Our Mission
Our Mission is to spark curiosity of a BIG thing in a small way. We hope the Ogden Valley Planet Tour help will help you grasp the vastness of our solar system and our special place in it. While on the tour, think about Mother Earth and how special of a place this is to call home.
Ogden Valley Planet Tour is a partnership between Mountain Arts and Music and the HALO Observatory in the Compass Rose Lodge. This project is partially funded by RAMP. The project consists of artistic renderings of our solar system’s planets in their relative sizes and orbital distances from the “Sun” located on the Compass Rose Lodge grounds in Huntsville. Each display has planetary information and a sphere representing the relative size of that planet. The displays are placed along the Pineview Loop Pathway northward towards Eden. The final displays are along the roadway towards Liberty, with Pluto placed at the South Gate of North Fork Park. A QR code of the locations can be found below.
Information for the project was researched and signs created by Dakota Hyde with input from science students at Valley Elementary and Snowcrest Junior High School. Local metal artist, Mary Hardy designed and fabricated the Sun scultpture with Steven Thompson.
